The Rock Island Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a SIR Management Facility (https://www.sirmanagement.com), was excited to have a team participate in the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”, this past Saturday, September 10th, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association in the Quad Cities. Bryan Barrish, President of SIR Management acknowledged that “earlier this year, our residents created and donated artwork in the “Memories in the Making” fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association. A big part of our facility’s business is being part of the community we serve; participating in events like this demonstrates our commitment to the community.”
Mr. Barrish added that “with the most recent stories in the news about Pat Summit and Glen Campbell and their challenges with this disease, the general public has again begun to start focusing on the population suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Our facility provides this level of care and works with family members to relieve the stress this disease can cause on family caregivers and loved ones.”
The Rock Island Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has a secure, certified Alzheimer’s/Dementia unit ensuring the safety and resident centered care for those with their unique memory care needs. Our secured unit provides residents with protection from wandering, a common practice of those with Alzheimer’s, without proper supervision. The Rock Island unit is certified by the Illinois Department of Public Health and has staff with specialized training for caring with the dementia diagnosed residents.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, approximately 5.4 million Americans have the Alzheimer’s disease. It is estimated that with the current rate of development, by 2050, there will be nearly 16 million Americans with the Alzheimer’s disease. The costs for providing care are also increasing at a similar exponential rate.
